Azerbaijan goes to Junior Eurovision with 'Me and my guitar'

Rustam Karimov will represent the “land of fire” – Azerbaijan with Me And My Guitar at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Azerbaijani broadcaster Ictimai has internally selected their act for this year's Eurovsision Song Contest - 10 year old Rustam Karimov, who was born in Baku, in August 2003.

Rustham began singing aged two years old and realised that music was his calling. He arranged family concerts, performing songs from the cartoon films, annd whilst at kindergarden he quickly became all kids’ music hero and in the school he was already the top star at all concerts.

In 2011 Rustam began studying piano at the Rashid Beybutov Music School - however his true passions are drums and guitar. This is epitimised by his song for Kyiv, which called Me And My Guitar.

Rustam says that music is in his head almost all the time - no wonder his school report regularly says "singing in class!".

With his song entitled "Me and my guitar", Rustam was selected internally by Ictimai Television to represent Azerbaijan in Junior Eurovision 2013.

The first Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) took place in Copenhagen and was an instant international hit. In 2013, the 11th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held, in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv.

The competition has many similarities to the Eurovision Song Contest from which its name is taken.
