Young artists presented project YARd ArT - PHOTOS

Young Azerbaijani artist Farhad Hagverdi, in collaboration with Hasan Hagverdiyev, Arif Amirov and Aydin Bagirov, presented the YARd ArT project in Baku on June 24.

YARd ArT project is conceived and implemented within the framework of the Participate Baku Public Art Festival, organized by YARAT! Contemporary Art Space, an organization dedicated to the promotion of contemporary art worldwide, and sponsored by Bank Respublika.

The project reviews the most private of public urban spaces, which is Baku courtyards. The yard is also a territory, mostly deprived of attention, which the artist seeks to transform through drawings and paintings. The project aims to encourage residents to action.

Today we are witnessing rapid growth of the city and significant investments in the restoration of the city facades. The project is also aimed at teaching Baku residents ways of improving the personal space where they live daily.

Farhad Hagverdi is an artist who lives and works in the Azerbaijani capital, a graduate of the Azimzade Art School and a member of the Azerbaijan Young Artists Union. Previously, he participated in exhibitions at the Artists' Union Gallery (2013), Modern Art Gallery (2012), Baku Museum Center (2010) and the Yaradan gallery (2009).

The project will take place at Gizil Sharg street, 8 (near the Olympus store).

Some ten artists from Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia, Britain, Portugal, and the Netherlands created their projects especially for the Participate Baku Public Art Festival under the principle of interactivity.

YARAT! Contemporary Art Space, founded in 2011 by Aida Mahmudova, and based in Baku, is realizing its mission through an ongoing program of exhibitions, education events, and festivals. It facilitates dialogue and exchange between local and international artistic networks, including foundations, galleries and museums.
