German musician performs in Baku

The concert of the German accordion player Eva Zollner under the name "Looking at Darkness" took place on April 12 at Kapellhaus.

In the solo program she presented new modern music for accordion.

Addressing at the event Deputy of the Germany ambassador to Azerbaijan and chairman of the German-Azerbaijan Culture Union Volfqanq M?ssinger praised the significance of the event. He noted that Zöllner would also perform at Azerbaijan State Theatre of Young Spectators within the 5th Qara Qarayev International Contemporary Music Festival.

Eva Zollner, born in Germany in 1978, was educated as classical accordionist at the Academy of Music Cologne and at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.

She is one of the most active accordionists of her generation and devotes herself to contemporary music. Eva has performed as a soloist in most European countries, in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, the USA, Japan, Venezuela and Mexico where she was the driving force to establish the accordion in contemporary music life.

She has worked with leading ensembles for contemporary music (e.g. MusikFabrik, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, La Camerata de Las Américas) and in various opera productions (Royal Opera House London a.o.).

Eva is frequently performing with different chamber music formations, particularly realizing own concepts and ideas, among others in the range of multimedia arts. She is regular guest artist at festivals and concert series all around the world. An important part of her activity is the close cooperation with composers. She has premiered around 100 new works for accordion.
