Mamuka Japaridze is a Georgian artist who lives and works both in Tbilisi and in the UK. In his work, he relies on a variety of techniques and means of expression, using the word and sound to create the works, which are then presented in the form of actions and performances, exhibitions and installations. The means used are very diverse and can include media products (posters, postcards as part of a larger event), happenings, the collection and archiving of photos for a long period of time, video projection, text, sketches, drawing and so on.

The artist explores the forms of existence of things in space and time outside the context of their everyday utility. Only by getting rid of the practical, utilitarian interpretation of things you can discover their true, metaphysical sense.

Purpose and meaning for the artist has always been a creative act rather the final work product.
