Mirza Fatali Akhundzade's works published in Hungarian

Mirza Fatali Akhundzade's works were first published in Hungarian in connection with the 200th anniversary of the birth of great thinker, founder of Azerbaijani drama and prominent public figure, the Azerbaijani embassy in Hungary said today.

The book "Mirza Fatali Akhundzade: Comedy and Prose", published at the initiative of the Embassy, includes six comedies by this writer and the novel "Deceived stars."

The works were translated from Azerbaijani by scholar and Baku State University graduate Maria Keneshi.

A large introduction to the book "The Founder of New Azerbaijani literature" was written by Azerbaijani ambassador to Hungary Vilayat Guliyev.

The preface narrates Mirza Fatalai Akhundzade's great role in the Azerbaijani literary-cultural and socio-political life and in the Turkic Islamic world in the XIX century as well as the fact that Akhundzade was the founder of "New Literature" and the National Revival because of his multi-faceted creativity.

The embassy is holding talks with Hungarian theaters on the staging one of the great writer's plays.
