Azerbaijani movie presented at int'l film festival in Tajikistan

The “Steppe man” (Çölçü), the movie by Azerbaijani filmmakers has received special diploma of the 5th international “Didor” festival in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

The Steppe man film starring Vidadi Hasanov, Bahruz Vagifoglu, Javidan Mammadli, Vusal Mehraliyev (Azerbaijan), Salume Demuriya (Georgia) and the others was shot by the Azeri film director Shamil Aliyev.

The International Jury of the Fifth International Film Festival "Didor": Kim Ji-seok - the Chairman of the Jury - Executive Program Director of the Pussan Film Festival, film critic (South Korea); Birgit Boymers - film historian, lecturer in Slavic studies at Bristol University (UK); Elchin Musaoglu Guliyev - director, award winner of many international film festivals (Azerbaijan), George Ovashvili – director and award winner of many international film festivals (Georgia);
In the panorama of feature and short films, documentaries and animated films presented from Mali, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, USA, Switzerland, Tajikistan, and animations of Bakhtiyor Kahharov (Tajikistan).

Visiting "Didor" is the film festival on human rights (Afghanistan) and the film festival "Verzio" (Hungary) with a large selection of feature and documentary films.

The festival is supported by the Committee on Television and Radio of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the studio The Film Festival sees its mission in reviving independent cinema in Central Asia, inspiring discoveries in cinema language and driving attention to independent cinema by promoting short films created by cinema school students and non-professionals.

The Festival provides an opportunity for young directors not only to learn the secrets of world cinema and film production, but also to participate in the formation of the Central Asian auteur cinema.
