The employees of the Children’s Library named after Firidun Kocharli took part in the 33rd IBBY International Congress, entitled “Crossing Boundaries: Translations and Migrations” in London.
More than 500 representatives from 76 countries took part in the Congress of the International Board on Books for Young People with Azerbaijan represented by Firidun Kocharli Library’s employees Zahira Dadashova and Ilaha Guliyeva.

On the opening day of the congress the organizers read out a congratulation letter and then introduced Azerbaijani delegates to the participants. Books by Azerbaijani children authors in English and the latest issues of the Library’s “Rainbow” magazine were displayed at the exhibition as part of the congress.

The representatives of the library also took part in the Hans Christian Andersen Awards ceremony.

Every other year IBBY presents the Hans Christian Andersen Awards to a living author and illustrator whose complete works have made a lasting contribution to children's literature.
The Hans Christian Andersen Award is the highest international recognition given to an author and an illustrator of children's books. Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark is the Patron of the Andersen Awards.  The nominations are made by the National Sections of IBBY and the recipients are selected by a distinguished international jury of children's literature specialists.
