Project launched to protect Azerbaijan’s intangible cultural heritages

The Social – Ecological Center "EcoSphere” held a presentation of the new project related to protection of Azerbaijani intangible cultural heritage.

The project entitled “Strengthening Creative Industries in South Caucasus: Heritage Crafts - Common Platform for Development”, is implemented under the European Union’s Eastern Partnership Culture programme.

Addressing the presentation ceremony, project leader Maka Dvalishvili underscored the importance of the creative industries in the international cultural policy in the modern world.
The project addresses the institutional development of the field of Creative Industries, and in particular Heritage Crafts in South Caucasus nations and supports expansion of the healthy business environment for the inclusion of Heritage Crafts in the line of economically benefited field and its integration with the EU policies.

Chairwoman of the Social – Ecological Center "EcoSphere”, national project coordinator Firuza Sultanzade noted that the development of the heritage crafts in the South Caucasus countries helps to boost social development of the countries.

Representative of the Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Culture and Tourism Yashar Huseynli highlighted the Azerbaijani government`s attention and care to the protection of the intangible cultural heritage highlighting preparation of new projects to the effect.
