Azerbaijani artist awarded in Russia

Azerbaijani People`s Artist, Chair of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan Farhad Khalilov has launched his personal exhibition in Moscow.

Speaking to the opening ceremony, Azerbaijani Ambassador Polad Bulbuloglu congratulated Khalilov on behalf of all Azerbaijanis living in Russia. The Ambassador said it was not the first large exhibition of Khalilov in Moscow, adding his works were put on display in many countries, including Turkey, France, Germany, Italy, Syria and Bulgaria.

The exhibition features 20 works. The launch ceremony also featured the presentation of a drawings catalogue and book of poems by Tamilla Akhundova, the artist`s wife.

The Ambassador called the presentation of Akhundova`s book “a double cultural event”. Representative of the Russian House of Artists Nikolai Broslovitsky praised Khalilov`s works. He expressed confidence the exhibition would arouse keen interest among a wide audience. He said the leadership and academicians of the Russian Academy of Arts unanimously elected Khalilov a full member of the Academy and awarded him its gold medal.

The opening ceremony was attended by famous cultural figures, scholars and representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora. The exhibition will close April 6.
