New museum opened in Gobustan

A museum and office building of the Gobustan national art-historical reserve were opened yesterday. Speaking at the event, Culture and Tourism Deputy Minister Vagif Aliyev noted that for the further improvement of the reserve, the President signed a decree on the construction of the building in early 2011.
 
He said the building was constructed in a short period of time and the President inspected it earlier.

Aliyev noted that the Gobustan reserve is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.  Reserve director Malaht Farajova said the total area of the reserve is 4,530 hectares. Museum of the reserve consists of 12 exhibition halls and showcase more than 100,000 archaeological materials, including rock art exhibits.
