Deputy chairman of Azerbaijani parliament’s committee: Azerbaijan has capability to refund the lost Soviet-era bank savings

There are some problems with the preparation of the mechanisms for the refund of the lost Soviet-era bank savings of the Azerbaijani people, deputy chairman of the parliament’s committee for economic policy Chingiz Asadullayev saids.

According to Asadullayev, a working group has been functioning in the parliament for more than two years. Noting that a number of problems arose during the discussions, the parliamentarian said they were mainly connected with the indexation of the savings, the principles on which the process must be realized.

“Azerbaijan has capability to refund these savings. The budget has increased and there are no financial problems,” Asadullayev said.

The refund of these savings is estimated at AZN 600 million.
