
Final meeting on KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) project "Feasibility study and detailed design for upgrading water intake structure at northern rivers and improvement of Absheron main canal for irrigation" was held.
KOICA has supported the project from October, 2009 till June, 2011 with grant budget 3.4 million USD, KOICA press release says.
The purpose of the project is to solve water shortage in Absheron peninsula by supplying excess water of six northern rivers and to increase farm income and provide infrastructure for national development through agricultural development of the region especially by means of expansion of Absheron main canal.
Feasibility Study and Detailed Design supported by KOICA cover new construction of intake weirs and related facilities (settling basins, buildings, flow measuring facilities, management road, etc.) for five rivers of Gusarchay, Guruchay, Agchay, Garachay and Jagajugchay; Repairs of mechanical and electrical facilities, and construction of settling basin and related facilities for the existing Gudialchay intake weir.
