Azeri minister of industry and energy Natiq Aliyev has met Secretary General of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Leonid Bokhanovsky.
They discussed problems of gas market and touched upon preparatory issues related to the first summit of GECF to be held in Doha in November.
Bokhanovsky said the forum would allow GECF members to exchange views and improve cooperation among the world's largest gas-extracting companies.
The Azeri minister noted his country was interested in cooperation with the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.
GECF was established in Tehran, Iran, in 2001. It is an intergovernmental organization of some of the world's leading natural gas producers. GECF members together control over 70% of the world's natural gas reserves, 38% of the pipeline trade and 85% of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) production.
