Works within framework of project on construction of the energy bridge between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey are actively underway and in May 2012 its Georgian section will be completely ready, said the Georgian Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri.
To him, at present, the Azerbaijani side conducts design work and construction will begin in the near future.
Note that, currently, energy system of Georgia and Azerbaijan is bound by 330-kilovolt transmission line, power is expected to increase to 500 kV. Over the past few years, Georgia has increased its exports to Turkey 10 times, but the country’s water resources can increase the sale of electricity. Therefore, within framework of this project, new power transmission line is considered to build from Georgia to Turkey.
