Baku receives London Taxi TX4s - PHOTOS

Azerbaijan received 100 purple London Taxi TX4s within a contract with the leading London taxi manufacturer Manganese Bronze Holdings, the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry said.

The source said the first batch of taxis has been received and will be presented today.

"Today, the first batch of 100 cars has been received today," the source said. The contract was signed with the manufacturer for 1,000 carsunits. The remaining 900 cars will be delivered by late 2011."

A new private company Baku Taxi Company was established to develop a program launched by the ministry.

The supply agreement of the Shanghai LTI Company, a joint venture between Manganese Bronze Holdings and Chinese Geely Automobile Holdings Limited, is the largest contract for

London's company. The total cost is about $ 27 million.

The ministry said ealier that it plans to deliver 3,000 new taxis.
