Mobile communication tariffs down in Azerbaijan

Transfer to monetary tariffing allowed reducing tariffs for mobile communication by half, the Deputy Minister of Communications and IT Iltimas Mammadov said.

He said it also increased transparency in controlling mobile communication expenditures by subscribers, which was somewhat difficult in the contour system.

Mammadov said one can predict the further gradual reduction of tariffs and various kinds of actions and campaigns for subscribers as the operators’ next strategy.
"The ministry will further focus on all these issues," he underscored.

In late April - early May, all mobile operators in Azerbaijan switched to manat tariffing. At present, Azerbaijan has three communication operators on GSM standard -Bakcell, Azercell and Azerfon.
