Azerbaijan to produce warships

"Azerbaijan will start producing national warships for the Armed Forces after 2013," President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev told journalists. He said a shipyard is being constructed in Baku.

"Along with civil ships the shipyard will produce warships for Naval Forces and Coast Guard," he said.

Rovnag Abdullayev said SOCAR has given five "oil-gas" type ships to the Coast Guard of the State Border Service and added that such ships can also be used in the ocean.

"These ships have been repaired by SOCAR’s Ship Repair Plant at will of the servicemen," he said.
