
The Azerbaijani Tax Ministry and the Lithuanian Finance Ministry’s State Tax Inspectorate have signed an agreement on technical cooperation in Baku today.
From Azerbaijan, the document was signed by Tax Minister Fazil Mammadov and by State Tax Inspectorate Chief Modestas Kaseliauskas from Lithuania.
The cooperation agreement between the two countries’ tax administrations will play an important role in expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of taxation between Azerbaijan and Lithuania.
The agreement will enhance the effectiveness of an Azerbaijani-Lithuanian intergovernmental commission, as well as play an important role in the development of international relations in the field of taxation.
The main purpose of Kaseliauskas’s visit is to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two countries’ tax administrations in taxation, as well as the mutual exchange of experience.
Directions for future cooperation, expansion of a legal framework, and boosting cooperation in taxation were discussed during the bilateral meetings.
The guests got acquainted with the Special Tax Service Department’s activity, the "single-window" system and phone reference service under the Tax Ministry.
According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee, trade turnover between the two countries exceeded $28 million in 2010. Azerbaijan’s imports from Lithuania amounted to more than $26 million, while Azerbaijan’s exports to this country - more than $2 million.
