01 March 2011 [19:26] - TODAY.AZ
The term of quota for export of black caviar over the world has been expired from February 28, 2011, but no country has prolonged it.

None of countries engaging in sturgeon hunting applied to CITES (The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) organization about prolonging of term.

As a result, the organization has approved the quotas in 0 level.

Azerbaijani Ministry Ecology and Natural Resources also noted that this term was expired. According to Senior Adviser to the Bio-Resources Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Tariyel Mammadli, not prolonging of quota is related with several reasons: “First, it’s not useful to export black caviar to abroad. The prices in Europe were more expensive than in Azerbaijan 2-3 years ago. Now, these prices have become equal”.
