Azerbaijan's sniper rifle "Istiqlal" to be included into world weapon catalogue

Technical characteristics and other necessary information have already been taken by Janes Company preparing the catalogue. Azerbaijani side presented this information in the IDEX 2011 exhibition held last week in UAE’a Abu-Dhabi city.

Information about world-wide, at the same time special weapons has been placed in the catalogue. Some weapons produced in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus have been included in this catalogue as well.

Azerbaijani Minister of Defense Industry Yaver Jamalov told APA that “Istiqlal” is the first national weapon of Azerbaijan: “The conducted investigations show that this weapon has not an analogue. There is a weapon similar to it in the Republic of South Africa, and its shooting range is about 2000 metres. IST 14.5 rifle's range is 2500 metres."
