Azerbaijan, Poland to cooperate in security market

Azerbaijan and Poland have reached an agreement on the extension of mutual cooperation in the securities market and implementation of joint projects under the EU Twinning Project, the Azerbaijani State Securities Committee (SSC) reported on Thursday.

A delegation of the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Depository Center (NDC) under the leadership of the SSC visited Poland on Dec.12-19. The visit was organized within the framework of the EU TACIS Project.

The visit aimed to familiarize with the mechanism of regulation and development of the securities market of Poland, as well as consideration of the possibilities of such a mechanism in the Azerbaijani stock market.

During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation held meetings at the Financial Control Agency governing the securities market of Poland, the Warsaw Stock Exchange, National Depository, House of Brokerage Houses and Listed Companies Associations.

The Azerbaijani delegation were presented presentations on the structure of financial control, regulatory framework and system of investor protection, issuance of securities, reporting systems, mechanisms for the licensing of professional participants, systems and methodologies for market surveillance, etc.
