
Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan level decided at the interstate to pay a special attention to cooperation in the study of situation in the global energy markets, the Turkmen media reported on Friday.
The Turkmen-Azerbaijani joint intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation decided on it at the recent meeting in Baku, the Vatan newspaper reported. Turkmenistan is bordering Azerbaijan via the Caspian Sea. The two countries' sphere of interest involves issues of transportation energy resources, including oil and gas, from the Caspian region to world energy markets.
The article reads that the two countries will study markets of petrochemical products, textiles, and processed products of agriculture, river and sea fisheries. The Neytralniy Turkmenistan paper wrote that the Baku meeting defined the main directions of mutually beneficial partnership.
The sides defined iron and steel industry, supply of electrical equipment, petroleum production and processing of agricultural products, as well as the transport, communications and information technology, as the priority areas.
The sides reaffirmed commitment to further convergence. It was stated, that the existing turnover does not match the potential, in connection with what the feasibility of establishing an expert group involving relevant ministries and agencies of the two states has been discussed.
