Baku to host conference on Azerbaijan's WTO admission

The conference is organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan National Committee for European Integration.

The conference will bring together specialists from the government agencies, international organizations and business to discuss process of Azerbaijan’s admission to WTO and influence of the membership on the country’s socio-economic development.

“The European Union attaches great importance to Azerbaijan’s efforts for being a part of the multilateral trading system and gives technical assistance for this. The Eastern Partnership Program launched by the European Union in 2009 and covering six countries, including Azerbaijan, creates new prospects for Azerbaijan’s economic integration into the European Union through signing new Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. Therefore admission to WTO is of special importance of EU-Azerbaijan relations,” says the statement issued by the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan.

Since 1997 Azerbaijan has been on the way to WTO membership, undertaken a number of reforms in economy and trade.
