
Azerbaijan and Dagestan are ready to boost economic cooperation, said Azerbaijan's Prime Minister Artur Rasizade during the meeting with President of the Russian Federation's Republic of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov.
Rasizade said “our nations are bound up by ties of friendship and fraternity”. National leader Heydar Aliyev paid high attention to expanding relations with Dagestan, said Premier.
Speaking on dynamic development of Azerbaijan`s economy, head of the government said, GDP grew by 9,6% last year, numerous social programs were adopted, state-of-the-art medical centers and schools built. The priority of the country`s economy is development of the non-oil sector.
Mr. Rasizade told of core problem of Azerbaijan – Narogno Karabakh conflict. Mr. Magomedov stressed the necessity to use Azeri oilmen' experience in developing the oil fields of Dagestan.
He offered to speed up the works for the first session of Azerbaijan-Dagestan Intergovernmental Commission, as well as implement the joint project on construction of hydroelectric power station in Samur River. Head of Dagestan said Azerbaijan takes an important place in the foreign trade turnover. Thus, last year, trade with Azerbaijan stood at 200 million dollars, which is a very big figure for Dagestan.
