EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger to visit Baku in April

The European Union Commissioner for Energy, Günther Oettinger, will arrive today evening for a one-day-visit to Baku to discuss energy issues. Commissioner Oettinger will meet H.E. President Ilham Aliyev, Minister of Industry and Energy, Mr. Natiq Alieyv, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Elmar Mammadyarov, as well as top representatives of SOCAR and oil companies in Baku.

Günther Oettinger, EU Commissioner for Energy, said: "Azerbaijan and the EU have developed a strong relationship on energy issues over time. In the context of the Eastern Partnership, I look forward to discuss energy matters and deepen further our partnership. Progress on the Southern corridor will be high on the agenda."

Commissioner Oettinger will meet with H.E. President Ilham Alieyv, Minister of Industry and Energy, Mr. Natiq Alieyv, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Elmar Mammadyarov to discuss energy issues including energy security for Azerbaijan and the EU and gas pipelines projects.

Commissioner Oettinger will also visit Sangachal Oil and Gas Terminal and will hold discussions with representatives of SOCAR and European oil companies in Baku.
