Azerbaijan restores gas supply to Russia after pipeline leak repairs

23 January 2010 [14:50] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan has restored gas supplies to Russia after a trunk gas pipeline was shut down for a gas leak on Friday, resulting in supply disruptions to local regions and Russia.
Gas leak in the riverside section of the Mozdok-Kazimagomed pipeline near Guba knocked out supplies to the northern regions of Guba, Gusar and Khachmaz as well as gas export to Russia from Azerbaijan. Supply disruptions in local regions have been solved by 10.00 am and gas pumping to Russia has been restored at 12.00 pm on Saturday, Shirvanovka Gas Measuring Station said. Nizamaddin Guliyev, spokesman of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), confirmed that gas export to Russia has been restored by the midday. The Mozdok-Kazimagomed pipeline takes gas from Caspian fields in Azerbaijan to the Russian heartland through Azerbaijan's northern regions and the turbulent North Caucasus. /APA/
