Inflation is expected to reach 5-7 percent in Azerbaijan at the end of 2010, compared to 1.5 percent in 2009, said Arif Veliyev, chairman of the State Statistical Committee.

"As last year, inflation will be one-digit at this year-end, but higher than 2009. It may vary between 5-7 percent. Mainly, prices of foodstuffs are expected to rise this year," he noted.
He also admitted that higher inflation is caused by monopoly, as well as artificial price hikes.
