Baku hosts the Gas Infrastructure World Caspian-2009 international conference on Sept. 15-16.

The conference brought together more than 150 delegates from various countries, including government representatives and business executives.
The event is attended by SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, Georgian and British energy ministers, Kazakh deputy minister of energy and mineral resources, EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs, officials from Bulgargaz, OMV, RWE, BG Group, TAP and Iranian and Turkmen national oil companies.
Abdullayev said at the opening ceremony that $37 billion was invested in the country’s oil sector through 26 international PSA contracts signed in 1994 to 2000.
He added that on the part of Azerbaijan there is no problem for the Nabucco project.
“We don’t want this project to be politicized," he added.
