American expert: no energy project can bypass Azerbaijan

“I think this project is one of the most important energy projects of modern times. I am sure that the east coast of the Caspian will be ready to transport its gas to Nabucco via Azerbaijan’s territory,” he said.

“East-West energy corridor along with  economic component is of great geopolitical importance with the project Nabucco, like Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline being a step in development of this corridor,” he added.

Nabucco once again stresses Azerbaijan's importance in terms of diversifying energy supplies and promoting energy security.

“This is so  regardless of Central Asian region’s participation in the project. In general, no project aimed to export Central Asian energy to Europe can bypass Azerbaijan which is one of the most important economic and political points of the world and is of great geopolitical importance in the Caucasus and Central Asia,” he said.
