Azerbaijan-Cuba Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation has gathered in Baku for the second meeting.

Abulfaz Garayev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Azeri co-chair of the Commission, said cooperation between the two countries has been progressing since 2006.
“As part of travel to Azerbaijan, the Cuban delegation visited several provinces and concerned themselves with the reforms there. The delegation also got acquainted with food making enterprises, diagnostic center and education institutions in Lenkeran,” he added.
The Minister said that the delegation also held meetings at the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, Industry and Energy, Youth and Sports, and Health.
In his words, the current trade turnover between the two countries is low but the expansion of cooperation is very promising.
Cuba’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Ricardo Guerrero,
Cuban co-chair of the Commission, underlined the significant development of relations between Azerbaijan and Cuba.
“There are plans to sign agreements on energy, trade, health, sports, etc. in the near future,” he added.
Following the meeting, the parties signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of culture and tourism, exchange of statistical data, industry and energy, communications and information technology.
The Intergovernmental Commission first met in Havana in 2007.
