First meeting of Union of Azerbaijani, Ukrainian Presidents to be held in Baku

The first meeting of the Union of Azerbaijani and Ukrainian Presidents will be held in Baku during Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchnko's visit to Azerbaijan.
The visit is scheduled for April 9-10, Ukrainian Embassy Advisor in Baku Gennadiy Shalev told Trend News.

The Union of Azerbaijani and Ukrainian Presidents was established in May 2008. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Yushchenko are the chairmen. The union's tasks are to form policy and strategic relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

Experts of the two countries are currently drafting the agenda of the first meeting.

The Ukrainian and Azerbaijani presidents will also review bilateral and regional cooperation issues.

According to the Azerbaijani State Committee for Statistics, the trade turnover between Ukraine and Azerbaijan hit $739.3 million in 2008. Roughly $172.1 million accounted for exports from Azerbaijan and $567.2 million - from Ukraine.
