President of Azerbaijan to attend tenth OCE summit in Tehran

President of Iran Mahmud Ahmadinejad invited the Turkish President to attend the tenth summit of the Organization for Economic Cooperation to be held in Tehran on March 11 of this year.
According to Anadolu Turkish news agency, as reports the state Television of Iran, the summit will also be attended by the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Notably, the organization is a regional intergovernmental organization, established by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey in 1985 for promotion of economic, technical and cultural cooperation between the member-states of the organization.

OCE is a follower of the Organization for Regional Development Cooperation, functioning from 1964 until 1979.

IN 1992 the organization was expanded by seven new members including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Currently the members of the organization are Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
