A credit agreement has been signed today between the World Bank and Ministry of Labor and Social Protection on the project "Development of social protection" in Baku today.

According to Day.Az, the overall cost of the project, WB approved on May 27 of 2008 with an implementation term for 2008-2013, makes $54,600,000. At the same time the share of the government of Azerbaijan will make $27,900,000, while the amount of WB credit $26,700,000.
The main aim of the project is to consolidate the structures of social protection in the country, improvement of the system of addressed social aid, strengthening of the staff potential of the ministry and complete automation of work, development of the pension system and so on.
Moreover, the project envisions for implementation of the program of development of social services, introduction of the program of social rehabilitation. According to Minister of Labor and Social Protection Fizuli Alekperov, the project has been prepared for two years.
He said the implementation of this project will help reduce poverty rate in the country, modernize institutes of labor market in the country, especially improvement labor conditions, prepare a strategic plan of strengthening labor security and so on.
The beneficiaries on the project will be the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, as well as state fund of social protection.
