The UN Development Program (UNDP) and Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) presented a project, allowing to introduce UN Global agreement in our country.

According to Novosti-Azerbaijan, global agreement is a UN mechanism, allowing to introduce social duties to business sphere. Global Agreement is a voluntary initiative, aiming to encourage the private sector.
According to UN resident coordinator, UNDP representative in Azerbaijan Bruno Pueza, the said project is financed by StatoilHydro and is intended for familiarization of local and foreign companies with the Global Agreement, creation of global agreement network in the country and assistance to the companies in joining the agreement.
"Global Agreement is a kind of a platform for unification of the private sector, for cooperation of companies and organization of a dialogue with private sector", said he today at the presentation of the project, adding that global agreement will also allow raising competitiveness of the private sector.
Pueza also noted that the global agreement is aimed at application of ten principles of an agreement in private sector. "The said initiative will offer definite privilages to the private sector, ensure raising effectiveness of the activity of the companies and ensure transparency of the companies", explained Pueza.
In turn, StatoilHydro manager in Azerbaijan Christian Hausken noted that the said initiative will allow the private sector of Azerbaijan to go beyond the country.
AZPROMO representative stressed importance of the global agreement for Azerbaijan. He said global agreement is a mechanism, stimulating business sphere development in the country in line with international standards.
In the future there is a plan to create global agreement networks in the regions, establish national website of the agreement, arrange tours to European countries for studying international experience and hold trainings.
