Iran may take Turkmenistan's place in the project of Nabucco gas pipeline on supplies of natural gas from the Caspian basin to Europe bypassing Russia.

RIA Novosti reports with reference to ANS that the due announcement was made by new EU envoy to Azerbaijan Allan Waddams.
He announced that representatives of the European Union, visiting Turkmenistan, state Ashkhabad's readiness to export its gas to Europe by Nabucco and at the same time they say that if Turkmenistan rejects to participate in the project, Iran may take its place.
The EU representative also noted that President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimukhammedov told him that his country is ready to export its gas to Europe by Nabucco.
By some experts, the project is impossible without Turkmenistan's support while the supplies of Turkmenistan's gas by Nabucco is highly unlikely.
