Five presidents to discuss extension of Odessa-Brody pipeline in Poland

10 May 2007 [19:06] - TODAY.AZ
The presidents of Lithuania, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Poland will meet in Poland to discuss the extension of the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline.

On Friday, the five presidents will attend an energy summit organized by Polish President Lech Kaczynski in Krakow, a southern city of Poland, Polish news agency (PAP) reported Thursday.

According to the report, the two-day informal summit will focus on the plans to extend an existing pipeline, which stretches from Odessa on Ukraine's Black Sea coast to Brody in Poland and was completed in 2002.

The extension project was designed to help import oil from the Caspian region to European markets by extending the pipeline to the Polish port of Gdansk, on the Baltic Sea.

A similar meeting will be held in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania, in the autumn. Xinhua
