18 April 2007 [21:44] - TODAY.AZ
BASF Caspian JKS has held the second congress in Baku, examining modern construction and concrete production.

Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, Orujali Hajiyev, delivered a keynote at the meeting. He said there are problems with documents and work of construction companies in Baku.

"There are various kinds of shortcomings. We see discrepancies in paperwork, design defect, use of low-quality material and so on," he said.

He added that Garadagh Cement can't completely supply the market with cement and Azerbaijan imports cement from Russia, Ukraine and Georgia.

He said that low-quality cement is sometimes used in construction."We strengthened control at checkpoints to examine cement imports. Georgian and Ukrainian cement products come short of required standards. We prevented import of lo-quality cement. More than 50 local companies produce concrete while they don't have modern equipment and devices. The low-quality concrete producers have to be closed," he concluded. APA-Economics
