Azerigaz cuts off gas supply to defaulting customers from Monday

16 April 2007 [12:19] - TODAY.AZ
Azerigaz, State Gas Supply Company, has announced that it would cut off supply to defaulting customers from April 16.

The company officer Vagif Namazov told APA-Economics that the board meeting passed a decision forcing regional gas supply departments to increase the bill collection rate.

He said the collection rate for gas is notable low in Baku's Sabunchu, Surakhani, Azizbayov districts, Absheron, Ganja, Lenkeran, Sheki, Naftalan, Jalilabad, Saatli, Goranboy. He pointed to 100% collection rate in the district of Nizami as a good example, saying the situation in Khatai, Narimanov, Nasimi, and Yasamal is also satisfactory.

The average collection rate for gas was 44% in March in the country. The company expects that the amount of gas supply will decrease because of coming hot weather and this will help to raise the collection percentage.
