Azerbaijan, Mitsubishi sign MoU

Azerbaijan's Economic Development Ministry told APA-Economics that the memorandum was signed by Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev and General VP of Mitsubishi Corporation Yoichi Kanno.

Corporation suggests sanitation of dumps on the account of themselves due to the Clean Development Mechanism implemented in Azerbaijan for the first time. The implementation of this project will prevent negative influence of the garbage and methane on environment, population and atmosphere. At the same time gathered methane will be used for electricity production. Gas reservoirs and processing facilities will be created on this purpose.
As the result of the implementation of the project in the framework of Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism, certificate for emission reduction will be granted.

The Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is an amendment to the international treaty on climate change, assigning mandatory emission limitations for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to the signatory nations.
