Only 40 per cent of air pollution is purified in Azerbaijan

Mainly oil and gas industry pollute the atmosphere with sulfur, carbon and nitrogen dioxide. Oil-gas producing plants and oil refineries are the main sources of carbohydrate pollution.

The total volume of pollution in Baku has increased 50 000 tones. The pollution in Sumgait has decreased 32 000 tones, in Ganja and Ali Bayramli 2 000 tones.

81 per cent of pollution is carbohydrates. Auto transportation is other main source of pollution. Over 40 per cent of air pollution is auto transportation pollution.

The volume of air pollution let by stationery and mobile sources has been reduced since 1990, as a result of industrial recession, APA reports.
