Azerbaijani-Tatar intergovernmental commission meets in Baku

The intergovernmental commission on commercial, economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and Tatarstan has met for the first time in Baku today.

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizade briefed the Tatar delegation visiting Azerbaijan, APA reports.

He said that wellbeing of the population is improving, the volume of the state budget and money are increasing in Azerbaijan. Mentioning that oil industry occupies the main part of Azerbaijani economy, Mr. Rasizade said that non-oil sector should also be developed and necessary measures are being taken.

He also said that it is necessary to build up deep not only commercial-economic but also scientific-technical and cultural relationship.

"Your visit will contribute to this cooperation, I think." Mr. Rasizade proposed the Tatar delegation to develop joint programs on various spheres.

Expressing his happiness about the economic achievements of Azerbaijan, Tatar Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov said that economic, commercial and cultural cooperation should really be deepened between the sides.

He said that there is closeness between Azerbaijani and Tatar economies. Mr. Minnikhanov said that he hopes Azerbaijani Diaspora in Tatarstan will contribute to the development of relations. He also added that Azerbaijani businessmen have also been invited to work in special economic zone in Tatarstan.

The parties signd a protocol at the end of meeting.
