British-U.S. BP intends to increase the expenditure with the Azerbaijani joint enterprises (JE) and state companies in 5 years.
This sum comprises $250 million, David Woodward, the head of the BP Azerbaijan, said to a conference dedicated to the support of the national production. “We are eager to double the expenditure and reach $500 million,” he noted.
The conference held in Baku was organized by the Ministry of Economic Development.
According to Woodward, over 30% of the current expenditure directed at the local enterprises. “We cooperated with approximately 250 small and middle enterprises, 30 JEs and 80 state companies in the geophysical investigations, drilling in 2004,” he added.
Woodward cited the Azeri MI Drilling and CDC JE as examples. “These companies render assistance in the long-term program of BP on drilling with use of the local infrastructure,” he said.
