AIOC and Transneft discuss oil transportation through Baku-Novorossiysk

04 August 2005 [08:37] - TODAY.AZ
The Russian Transneft Company permitted the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) to transport 388,000 tons oil through the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline in September 2005.
The oil will be sold from Novorossiysk in August, Trend reports.

AIOC and Transneft are unifying the exact schedule of transportation in September. Besides, AIOC holds negotiations with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) on transportation volume of SOCAR’s oil in September.

“AIOC does not intend to reduce transportation volume through the Baku-Novorossiysk rout till putting of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline in exploitation. But it can permit SOCAR to transport 80,000 tons oil in September. The September volumes are being unified with SOCAR,” an informed source said.

If the share of the SOCAR in the oil transportation through the Baku-Tbilisi decreases, the State Oil Company will deliver the crude oil to oil refinery plants for production of oil products.

388,000 tons of Azerbaijani oil will be shipped from the Novorossiysk port in August.

SOCAR sold two 82,000 tons tankers to the Swiss Sun Oil Company at the tender.
