Salyan Oil Limited (SOL) treated the oil-polluted area in accordance with the world standards, SOL told Trend.
It commenting on the appeal to the Inspectorate on State Control over Environment and utility of natural resources at the Ministry of Ecology on the annulations of the previous verdict on the environmental damage while hydrocarbon production operations.
"We have fully implemented the court sentence and the territory has been treated. However, the Ministry enjoys a right continue the court examination. We have not received a notification on the case," a company official said.
The legal proceedings between the company and the Ministry started in October 2003. It is dealt with the land pollution in 3 different directions. The first covers 1h, the second – 300 sq m. "In accordance with the security rules, no greening should be near the fire danger, in particular, oil pipelines and oil reservoirs," the same sources said.
"We inherited the third territory from the SOCAR. Though we have nothing to with it, we carried out definite work to remove their results. At present the ‘lakes’ were dried and the treatment is underway," he noted.
In accordance with the previous court sentence, the company must treat the polluted area in exchange to fines in the amount of 758,271,250 manats. However, the work here did not satisfy the Ministry. SOL is involved in the development of Kursangi – Garabaghly onshore fields.
