Forecast of tea production in Azerbaijan for 2005 is 1100-1200 thousand tons

During the whole current year it is planned to improve the sphere of tea production at regions, to purchase new seeds in other countries, improve the technologies of planting, share experience with other countries regarding this question.

It was also noted in the Ministry that the main aim for the present moment is supporting farmers at regions in the sphere of tea production. With this aim the seminaries and conferences are being conducted at regions by the line of international organizations.

"Besides, the agency on agricultural credits will be created at the Ministry of Agriculture, which will issue credits to farmers, also busy with tea production" - the ministry officials reported.

The last seminar of this type was carried out by the German Community of Technical Support (GETS) in Bagatelle, which will be dedicated to the prospects of tea production in this region.

During the whole 2004 the volume of tea production in Azerbaijan made 1048 thousand tons.
