Hydrocarbon reserve of Azeri-Chirag-Guneneshli deposits signed in the frame of "Contract of the Century" was calculated to be in the volume of 730 million tons.
According to the information given to APA from State Oil Company, the experts said these reserves to be 511 million tons, in accordance with initial calculations in 1994.But later on prospecting wells were drilled and it turned out that, this figure is more than it had been considered. After each prospecting-well its results were analyzed again. Reserves have been calculated on the basis of it.

First the volume of these reserves was predicted to be 620 million; in accordance with the last results it was predicted to be 730 million tons. That means 5.4 billion barrels. But it is considered in SOCAR that, this calculation has not been completed yet: "Our calculations are till the break layer, upper parts included there. If drilled till the deeper layers, oil and gas deposits can be found. "Besides it, gas reserves in great volume are expected to exist in the deposits.

There are special articles in the contract, concerning the gas. In accordance with these articles, if gas deposits below the break layer are found it is possible to cooperate with "bp" company with new conditions.
