Salyan Oil to send explanatory letter to ecology ministry

The Ecology Ministry filed a lawsuit on SOL to fine the company 758m manats (approx. $155,000) for the damage to the ecology in the territory of the contract area.

"The letter is too unusual, it contain a number of apologies. They undertake a responsibility to respect the Azerbaijani laws and ask for assistance," Bagirov noted.

He also said that al details would be clarified further. "It is dealt with fines, but not damage. If they spend money on removal of the damage, the sum will be deducted from the fines. We numerously stated that we demand respect to the Azerbaijani laws, but not fines," the Minister underscored.
