Azerbaijan, IMF mull tax cooperation

Azerbaijan`s deputy tax minister Natig Amirov has met International Monetary Fund`s (IMF) Chief Economist for the Middle East and Central Asia Maria Albino-War to discuss prospects for tax cooperation.

Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan`s recent reforms and achievements in the tax sphere.
He also stressed the importance of holding joint business meetings.

Albino-War hailed IMF`s cooperation with Azerbaijan, improvement of tax administration in the country, expansion of application of electronic services, and stimulation of non-cash payments. She also praised the Taxes Ministry`s efforts to increase revenues from the non-oil sector.

They also exchanged views on changes to the Tax Code, implementation of tax revenues in 2011, reinforcement of collection of taxes from the non-oil sector.
