14 November 2013 [15:16] - TODAY.AZ
The third meeting of the Supreme Council on Strategic Partnership between Azerbaijan and Turkey was held on Nov.13 in the Turkish capital Ankara with the participation of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Alongside the political and economic issues, regional ones were also discussed at the meeting. The main topic of discussion was of course, the future prospects of cooperation between the two brotherly countries based on 'one nation - two states' principle.

The holding of the meeting of the Supreme Council on Strategic Partnership between Azerbaijan and Turkey in the true sense of the word became a kind of message to the whole word and especially to those forces troubled with the relations between Ankara and Baku.

This means relations between Ankara and Baku will continue to develop at a high level in political and economic dimensions. The strengthening of Turkey means strengthening of Azerbaijan.

If we look at the history of relations between Ankara and Baku, we can see from the date of recognition of Azerbaijan's independence that cooperation between the two countries has developed only in a growing route.

Officially Ankara has always supported Azerbaijan in all issues including settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Azerbaijan has always supported Turkey in all issues.
Turkish officials repeatedly stated that Ankara's position in Nagorno-Karabakh issue is unchangeable.

If we look at the current relations between the two countries, we will witness the development of these relations not only in political context, but also in economic and cultural levels.

Azerbaijan and Turkey are also unified by economic projects that can change Europe's energy map.

Alongside with all of this, the trade turnover between the two countries is expected to increase from $4.2 billion to $15 billion.

If we look at the history of relations between Ankara and Baku, we can say with confidence that thanks to the efforts of the two countries' leaderships, relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey based on common history and culture has reached such a level that it will be possible to bring the current achievements to future generations.

It is unequivocally clear that the relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey are unbreakable. This was once again proven with the fact that after the re-election of Ilham Aliyev to the post of president, his first visit was to Turkey.
