29 November 2011 [15:53] - TODAY.AZ
Niko Pirosmani's painting "Shepherd" was sold for 600,000 pounds ($1.5 million) at the auction held in London, "Kakheti" News Center quotes Pirosmani's House Museum director Anzor Madzgarashvili as saying.

He said for many years the painting has been kept by famous painter David Kakabadze's family. "There were Pirosmani's 5-6 paintings in Kakabadze's house. This summer one of the major London-based companies distributed information that the paintings will be put up for auction. Pirosmani's painting "Shepherd" was also among the mentioned lots. Prior to the sale of paintings, I informed the museum department of the Georgian Culture Ministry that picture is put up for auction, but no one paid any attention," Madzgarashvili said.
